Whether I believe in God or not is not determined by whether or not there is evidence of his existence. The question about God is much more fundamental, or better: more existential. It's about whether God has a meaning for me, for my life, whether there is a relationship with him or not. Faith does not just mean: to consider something to be true, but rather “faith” in the theological sense means a living relationship. Like any relationship, the relationship with God does not exclude conflicts, incomprehension, even doubts or rejection.

Faith in God is often man's struggle with this being, which means everything to us and which is so different; whose plans and actions we sometimes cannot grasp, and whose closeness we long for so much. The proof is that he will reveal himself to you when you enter into a relationship with him.

Because let's be honest. Would we be willing to obey God to change our lives even if it could be proven beyond doubt?

The sentence comes from the philosopher Gottlieb Fichte: "What the heart does not want, the mind does not let in."

Man in his rebellion will always look for a way out or an escape. So it says in what is perhaps the oldest book of the Bible, namely in Job, how people say to God: "Turn away from us, we don't want to know anything about your ways! Who is the Almighty, that we should serve him? Or what use is it to us when we call him? " Job 21:14

And God revealed himself to people there and yet they did not want to believe.

So there is nothing new under the sun. God pursues this rebellious heart, which is actually on the run from the Creator, and wants to overcome it with his love.
